There is nothing like finding your anthem, it sets the tone for your mood and how you plan to be motivated. Selecting my word for the year is just like that! For the last three years, I carefully selected a word that constantly reminded me to have more of or remember something in my life. With a little help from the Powersheets, digging deep, and be honest with myself I always select just what I need. Before I get into my word of the year, I want to help you with choosing yours!
I think that having something to define your year can give you that extra push that you need to stay focused. Think about the year of 2017. What things went well for you? What things didn’t go so well? Make a list of what you would like to be different this time around… Ideally, what would the year have been like if things went exactly how you wanted? How have you changed over the course of the year? These are all important questions to answer when gaining an understanding of exactly what you want to accomplish in life.
More questions.. What do you want 2018 to be like for you? What would be your biggest accomplishment if you could make it happen? What are some goals you would love to work towards and/or finish?
As you start writing these down, you’ll start to see a theme. For me I noticed that I needed to stop being afraid of my finances, putting myself out there with my business and just being a responsible adult. It was a pattern of me wanting to do so many things like networking and having more of an impact on women. The thing holding me back is being so introverted, scared, and playing it safe. I’ve wondered why things don’t progress as quickly or why people don’t know about what I’m doing… I complain about not being on top of my tasks and responsibilities when it comes to adulting in general. Or why I don’t meet new friends and make connections. —-This is real stuff here!
So I started to write down words that had went with this trend of my thoughts. What do I need to be or do for the new year? So I started writing down the words you see above. I knew that I needed to be more confident in myself. I definitely needed to be more assertive, especially when it is something I truly want. to start taking more risks so that I can thrive in my life. I need to be more outgoing and put myself out there for others to see what I have to offer.
And then I thought — Oh….
Fearless is my word of the year because it covers all of these things. I want to be a fearless business owner, a fearless adult, and a fearless motivator for women. I need to be a fearless woman walking in this world and it couldn’t be a better fit for this time in my life.
